SATARA CAMP - KRUGER NATIONAL PARK |
Satara Camp is the Kruger National Park's third biggest rest camp, providing accommodation and lodging for more than 400 guests in huts arranged in 7 concentric circles, facing inwards in protective laager fashion.
Satara is regarded as one of the best game viewing areas in the park and is particularly noted for the big cats, with Lion, Leopard and Cheetah recorded regularly. General game includes Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Waterbuck, Giraffe and the ubiquitous Impala. Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant are also easily seen. Of the smaller animals, the Honey badger is something to look out for on this South Africa safari. At night spotted hyena regularly whoop from the camp's perimeter while the repetitive sonar chink of fruit bats blends with the chirp of cicada and cricket.
The prime bungalows along the eastern perimeter allow visitors to glimpse the Hyenas that scavenge outside the fence at night. Satara Camp which is located in the centre of the Kruger National Park in South Africa, stakes its reputation on being one of the best spots in the world for viewing Lion, Leopard and Cheetah, because of the fertile grazing land found in the area which attracts vast herds of Antelope.
|
The Kruger Park area is the size of a small country. Over a million visitors stay here annually at the various lodges and rest camps. Here the wildlife at its best and home to the big five. The most impressive aspect of this natural heritage area is its immense size and scale. This requires enormous effort and responsibility to manage and maintain. We are proud of its first class standard of eco-tourism. A flagship of South African National Parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of flora and fauna.
